31% of people admitted to skipping their workouts in winter because of THESE 3 REASONS.

In a survey, 31% of people admitted to exercising less in the winter and the top excuses are: It's too cold, it's too dark, and it's too wet. So how can you avoid the cold, the dark and the wet? Try out one of these FIVE fun at home workouts instead, You can even get your family or friends involved.

1. Zumba
30 minutes of Zumba is around 210 calories. It's a fun and easy way to get moving and boost your energy during these dark winter hours. If you feel like Zumba is too intense, make a playlist of some of your favorite songs and dance around your home for as long as you can. Some movement is better than no movement.

Hear me out, if you've got kids at home making a work out difficult try and add them to your work out time. It's a great way to bond and teach them a new life skill. Besides the stories they tell are totally entertaining and it's great for even first time yoggies that are curious about yoga.

The nice thing with HIIT workouts is you go at your own pace, so whether it's 5 minutes, 7 minutes or 10 minutes, you will burn calories and boost your energy. I personally love hiit workouts on days when I don't have time to dedicate to a full workout. I try and take a few minutes in the morning, afternoon or night, or even multiple parts of my day to hitting the reset button on my brain and body.

4. Stretching
I know what you're thinking, BUT... yoga and stretching are not the same thing. While both can relieve muscle tightness and increase flexibility, stretching is focusing on lengthening the muscle to get it ready for peak performance. Both are considered posing based exercises, but stretching focuses on targeting problem areas and recovering from injuries. If you can take just a minute or two of your day and dedicate it to your breathing and stretching it's a great way to get your body moving and feeling stronger.

5. Tabata
Similar to HIIT workouts Tabata is fast, it's fun and it's effective. It's about 20 second rounds followed by a 10 second rest. The best part is Tabata is a FOUR. MINUTE. WORK. OUT. You spend at least four minutes picking out your outfit so why not just spend an extra four minutes on your health? This fun styled workout will make you feel healthy and energized.
