Don't let work follow you home THIS weekend or ANY weekend, use these 5 easy tips to wind down for the weekend.

After a long work week it's easy to stay a busy body and feel like the weekend is filled with more work. Then when you finally are relaxing you realize it's Sunday night and you haven't had a single second off, meanwhile all your friends on social media look like they are living their best life. I found five easy ways to unwind and get ready for the weekend through Huff Post that published 10 ways to set your brain to "leisure mode" and I've picked my favorite five.

1. Say buh-bye to work

As the work day is wrapping up, log off your work email, Slack, MS Office... EVEN your computers, laptops, tablets, you name it shut it down. Keegan LaMar, expert performance and leadership coach, says it's like giving your devices a handshake at the end of the business day and saying, "nice doing business with you."

2. Get your groove on

Well really find a song or playlist to unwind to. While some people use music to pump them up, use the power of music to change your mood. Lia Garvey, Organizational Consultant and TEDx Speaker shares finding the right song helps to clear your mind. More importantly she says to make this a routine, whether it's on the commute home or spending the last few minutes of work jamming out, this activity signals to your brain work is done and it's time to relax.

3. Work clothes off, comfy clothes on

Do you work in a setting that requires a suite and tie, blazers and heels, a more business professional appearance? Well... ladies just like our bras, when you get home change out of those un-comfy work clothes and into something that feels good. Lia Garvey said in addition to listening to music, changing your clothes helps signal your mind that work is done. So even if you work in sweats and a t-shirt or athleisure gear: CHANGE YOUR CLOTHES.

4. Leave the work talk at the office

It's pretty self explanatory, but it's easy to fall into the routine of asking friends, family and significant others, "How was work?" while it's not that you don't care, but it's time to wind down. Keegan LeMar says it's simple, when you're done at work then you're done with talking about work. He even says find intentionality with your words to the people in your life and this will help you unwind.

5. Make a plan and make it fun

Plan on something fun when your work day ends. Whether it's a party or a night out on the town, Dr. Flora Sadri-Azarbayejani a health specialist, shared that making hard plans at the end of the work week help tell our brains work is over and it's time to relax. She even says it's a great way to ease into leisurely and social activities.
