Here are 5 quick tips to get ready for the time change happening this weekend.

Spring is literally just hours away and I found some quick and easy tips to get your body ready for the time shift. Most of preparing for the time change involves preserving your sleep schedule and making sure nothing disturbs it. I can't speak for other people, but an uninterrupted sleep is literally goals for me.

According to Almanac.com our body can take up to 5 - 7 days to adjust to a time change like this and while it may not majorly affect our health and wellness not preparing for a good rest before a time shift can cause tiredness and irritability.

1. Cut out caffeine. Experts are saying no caffeine for at least six hours before bed this weekend.

2. No alcohol either. Just one tiny drink can disturb your sleep for hours. Plan for a low key weekend.

3. Eat light. Eat several hours before heading to bed, and I'm talking like more than 3 hours before bed. Foods have been proven to affect our sleep quality and in order to ensure a successful transition into spring eat light this weekend.

4. Make your bed the place to be at. As in, clean sheets and removing phones or tablets from the room to be distraction free.

5. Go to bed earlier. Going to be earlier is going to minimize the impact on your body of the time change. It's easier to make a few small changes rather than one big one. Try going to bed about 30 minutes earlier than usual tonight, tomorrow and Sunday.
