D23 2026 recap: Biggest Marvel, Pixar and Disney News

Discover the biggest reveals from D23 2026, including the official MCU X-Men Cast, Frozen 3 plot details and exclusive Avengers: Doomsday footage.

The 2026 D23 Showcase officially set the entertainment world ablaze with jaw dropping blockbuster reveals, star studded stage appearances and long awaited project announcements. Fans got a taste for what's to come with Marvel Studios, Disney & Pixar Animation and new live action revivals. I think it's safe to say Disney is taking on the second half of the 2020s with huge ambitions.

Marvel Studios: The Mutant Era Begins

Kevin Feige took to the stage to reveal the cast of the upcoming X-Men reboot and I can not be more excited. the flick is expected to come out in 2028 and if I could buy my tickets now I would. Major casting announcements include Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Christopher Abbott as Professor X, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Maya Boyd as Storm, Inde Navarette as Rogue and Adam Driver as Mister Sinister.

Beyond the X-Men announcement fans also got major updates with the Avengers.

• Avengers Doomsday: MCU familiars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans and Hayley Atwell made an appearance to unveil footage of Doctor Doom, plus fans got a teasing message from Hugh Jackman about Wolverine.

• Vision Quest: There was also the unveiling of the official trailer and launch date for the new Disney+ series which comes out October 14, 2026.

Disney & Pixar Animation: New Sequels and Crossovers

We received the some of the best news of the conference from this panel for some of our favorite franchises. That list is lengthy, but it includes:

• Frozen 3 (Fall 2027): Kristen Bell and Indina Menzel helped fans imagine what Anna and Kristoff's upcoming royal wedding will be about, but what new evil is looming over Arendelle, plus an unexpected twist of Olaf finding love.

• Incredibles 3 (Summer 2028): Pixar confirmed the third installment that will follow the grown up Parr Children.

• Coco 2 (Fall 2029): Looks like the bell didn't kill Ernesto De La Cruze after all because now he's seeking revenge on Miguel...

• Kingdom Hearts Animated Series: All you emo loving, baggy pants wearing certified Millennial Disnerds can rejoice because Pixar confirmed a brand new animated tv series based on Kingdom Hearts. They also confirmed Coco is getting its own world featured in Kingdom Hearts IV.

Live Action News & Cult Classics Comebacks

This probably made me more excited than it should have, BUT there were some major movie reveals outside of MCU and animated films that I can't wait to check out.

• Star Wars: Starfighter: And the saga continues... this time following Ryan Gosling. Fans got their first glimpse into this intergalactic adventure.

• Romy and Michele 2: Lisa Kudrow and Mira Sorvino are back for this cult classic sequel... I can only imagine what crazy situation they'll stir up this time.

• Oswald The Lucky rabbit: Jon Favreau announced a hybrid live action/animated miniseries dedicated to one of Walt Disney's original characters Oswald. Now I know it's a stretch, but considering the success of the live action Chip and Dale movie from a couple years ago and this, I almost wish we could get some sort of remake of Who Framed Roger Rabbit in the works... think about all the new IPs out there that could be featured.

Disney never fails to wow fans at D23 and this year has only brought more excitement, more magic and more hope for future entertainment projects. What's something you wish they'd visit for a movie concept or tv show?
