This week on, OPWJS Sister Talk, Juandolyn was joined by Dr. Catherine Meeks, Executive Director of the Absalom Center for Racial Healing. Dr. Meeks led a discussion about the effects of racism on our society and offered support for why the racism we see today is nothing new, but an extension of what already existed.

According to Dr. Meeks, racism was founded on false racist paradigm of White supremacy; it is a belief that White people are superior to non-Whites. She explained that racism is a system of beliefs that Blacks are inferior and unworthy.

Unfortunately, this belief was furthered by slavery in America. Dr. Meeks said racism survives by convincing the oppressed that they are each others enemy instead of the real enemy, the oppressor. This show offered a real education on racism and how it works.
